Mairi is a Gynaecologist with a special interest and almost 30 years of experience in Urogynaecology. Mairi graduated with MBChB from Stellenbosch University in South Africa in 1989, went on to study for her FCOG which she received 1999 and MMed(O&G) in 2000, also from Stellenbosch University.

Mairi worked as a specialist at National Women’s in Auckland from 2003 -2015, where she was a part of the Urogynaecology team. Annually Mairi travels to the Cook Islands to provide Urogynae services including Urodynamics, clinics and surgery for incontinence and pelvic organ prolapse. She is actively involved with the Pacific Society for Reproductive Health and is involved with running surgical workshops for both Doctors and midwives.

Mairi is ACC accredited and treats patients with: Sensitive Claims, vaginal and pelvic injuries from accidents or assault, pain or other problems after gynaecological surgical complications and birth trauma. She works closely with pelvic health physiotherapists, urologists, other urogynaecologists and when the need arises, an orthopaedic surgeon.

Mairi is passionate about quality-of-life issues and believes that heavy periods, incontinence and pelvic organ prolapse should not be accepted as normal.

Mairi is a gynaecologist with a sub-specialist interest in urogynaecology. Mairi is particularly interested in the quality of life issues often faced by women as they get older. These include not only menopausal symptoms and incontinence but also sexual dysfunction and irregular or heavy periods. She is happy to discuss both conventional and alternative forms of treatment for most hormonal problems, including the use of herbal remedies and Bio-identical hormones.

Mairi is ACC accredited and thus able to help women with problems after traumatic childbirth, or complications from gynaecological surgery, including mesh complications.
